We're all unhappy with the price at the gasoline pumps in the Boston area. If a trusted source told you six things you could do to vastly improve your gas mileage, would you do it? You probably would. Whether it's on groceries, gasoline or clothing, we welcome the chance to save money.
At Rodenhiser, we can't help you with your car, but we can offer six ways to lower your cooling and heating costs:
- Install a programmable thermostat. Programmable thermostats automatically set back temperatures when your home is empty. That equals lower bills in summer and winter.
- Stick to a maintenance plan for your cooling and heating equipment. Getting seasonal tuneups before the cooling and heating seasons keeps your equipment in peak running condition. This maximizes performance and lowers operating costs.
- Change your air filters. Air filters clog up, potentially reducing airflow and making your equipment work harder and less efficiently.
- Have your ducts examined. Duct leaks can be responsible for major energy loss. Proper sealing can make a serious dent in your energy costs.
- Replace old equipment. If your equipment is over 10 years old, consider a replacement. High-efficiency units are designed to use much less energy than older models.
- Ensure you get proper installation. When you have new HVAC equipment installed, make sure certified technicians install it. Poor installation can cost you in terms of efficiency.
Saving energy reduces costs. We hope these tips can help. Questions? Contact Rodenhiser. We're always happy to help you save energy -- and money.
