What's behind the NATE logo?
NATE is an acronym for North American Technician Excellence. NATE is a nonprofit entity, formed to provide a uniform standard for service and installation exceeded by none. Simply put, NATE certification is the gold standard for achievement in the HVAC industry.
Coast to coast, successful completion of NATE certification is recognized as the pinnacle of achievement within the HVAC industry. Many contractors employ only those technicians holding NATE certification, or those working towards that goal.
Expertise and recognition for a NATE-certified technician
These distinctions and endorsements separate NATE-certified technicians from the rest:
- Technicians undergo rigorous testing in at least one specialization (installation or maintenance, for instance) and general HVAC knowledge.
- Recertification is required every five years, ensuring the technician is well versed in the latest advances in technology.
- Going green? You can expect your NATE-certified technician to clearly outline the benefits of solar and geothermal systems, information regarding tax credits and incentives, and help you calculate return on investment.
- NATE technicians are devoted to their profession, which is reflected in fast and efficient service and installation done right the first time.
- The U.S. Army encourages NATE certification among its military personnel by awarding promotion points for successfully passing NATE certification.
In addition, NATE-certified technicians easily topped non-NATE-certified technicians in customer polling for overall satisfaction. NATE-certified techs scored higher in all categories, including the “extremely satisfied with contractor” category, and the “extremely satisfied with system” category, indicating quality installation.
